Sag Harbor supermodel Christie Brinkley says that at 63, she has no issues with wearing a bikini around her house and garden in order to get an even tan, and that older people in general should not be chastised for wearing two-piece swimwear.

“You know what? You can’t really critique a person over 50 — it is just, like, if they are brave enough to put on a bikini then you let them be!” Brinkley, who is shooting a Gap campaign, told People magazine in an interview posted Wednesday.

She explained, that, “I always put a bikini on and say, ‘Oh, it is just to wear around the house. I am not going to go anywhere in it. I just want to get a little color while I am gardening.’ " adding, “I run around trimming my begonias to even everything out so I don’t have any tan lines.”

Brinkley assured the magazine she is careful about overexposure to the sun’s UV rays, which can cause skin leathering and cancer. But, she said, “I don’t care how much sunblock you put on, when you’re outdoors as much as I am, you’re going to get some color.”

Brinkley and her three adult children were among those named in April to People magazine’s 2017 World’s Most Beautiful list.

She spent Wednesday in Connecticut, at a benefit for the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Center, writing on social media that, “Each Year the Center helps over 1400 women who have no insurance or insufficient insurance get the care they need. I was so honored to be their keynote speaker at today’s luncheon. And what a treat to sing along with the Bethel Gospel Assembly Choir.”
