Singer-actor David Cassidy and his wife, Sue, are divorcing after nearly 23 years of marriage.
Sue Shifrin-Cassidy, 64, said in a statement Tuesday that her divorce filing "has been looming for some time," adding "I am truly heartbroken that our marriage is ending."
David Cassidy, 63, told E! News Tuesday, "It is very sad that Sue chose to take this approach. I have tried to resolve this amicably outside of the public eye. I have reached out to her with no response over the last 3 months. It's a sad day for me and for our son Beau," a 23-year-old singer-songwriter. He has another child, "Arrow" star Katie Cassidy, from a previous relationship.
Cassidy -- who gained fame in the 1970s musical sitcom, "The Partridge Family" -- recently entered rehab. He was formally charged with DUI on Feb. 4 after a Jan. 10 arrest in Los Angeles, and had DUI arrests near Schodack, N.Y., in August 2013 and in St. Lucie County, Fla., in November 2010.
