Get ready to take a sentimental journey Thursday as Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff, aka Doris Day, celebrates her 90th birthday.

Day is marking the milestone with a sold-out three-day event of pet fashion shows, animal adoptions and a birthday bash to benefit the Doris Day Animal Foundation (dorisdayanimalfoundation.org) at her Cypress Inn in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif. Didn't reserve a spot? You can still celebrate at home:

* Turner Classic Movies salutes Day with a 24-hour marathon of 12 films starting at 6 a.m. Thursday. Among those on tap are two of her favorites -- the hard-hitting 1955 musical bio "Love Me or Leave Me" (12:15 p.m.) and the 1953 Western songfest "Calamity Jane" (4:15 p.m.).

* An auction featuring items autographed by Day and friends, including Paul McCartney and Tony Bennett, will be up for bid online through Tuesday to benefit Day's pet cause. View items at bit.ly/1jxkuIL

* WHLI/1100 AM will play at least one Day song each hour and share stories about her. "People love her because she's always lived a life along the straight and narrow," says WHLI program director Paul Richards. "She's one of America's sweethearts."
