Heidi Klum responds to Seal's comments about her new romance
"I cherish all of the great memories Seal and I created together over the years," Klum told People magazine of her relationship with the R&B singer-songwriter, whom she met in February 2004 and married in May 2005. "Our separation was based on issues between the two of us," she added. "Seal has moved on and so have I. My priority has and continues to be protecting and providing for our children."
The couple has three biological children -- sons Johan, 5, and Henry, who turns 7 on Sept. 12, and daughter Lou, 2 -- as well as Klum's daughter Leni, 8, fathered by the model's former boyfriend, Italian businessman Flavio Briatore. Seal adopted her in 2009.
"We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much," Klum, 39, had told People in January, when the two announced what they said was an amicable separation. Klum filed for divorce in April.
Seal, 49, told TMZ.com on Friday, when approached at Los Angeles International Airport, "I certainly don't expect Heidi to all of a sudden become a nun," and then remarked on her being seen frequently with her bodyguard of four years, Martin Kirsten, including on a recent vacation in Sardinia: "Whilst I didn't expect anything better from him, I would have thought that Heidi would have shown a little more class and at least waited until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help, as it were."
Seal's rep told TMZ Sunday that Seal "would like to clarify that he was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together, [and] was merely pointing out that their separation and divorce are not yet final and they are indeed still legally married."
