“Socio,” a television pilot starring Denise Richards, filmed in downtown Nyack Wednesday and Thursday. Filming is taking place on Main Street and parking is unavailable on Main between Cedar Street and Broadway from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.
“Socio” is an ABC Family drama that stars Richards as the mother of a teenager (Avan Jogia) who returns home after serving five years in prison for a murder he committed at age 11. While shunned by the community, he is able to reconnect with his best friends.
Local filming for the pilot included a scene in which Jogia and two other teen actors walk down Main Street in front of Johnnycakes Cafe. Passersby gathered to watch the shoot, with some people poking their heads out of windows to get a better view.
