Actress Jada Pinkett Smith has responded to the controversy surrounding photos of her and Will Smith's 13-year-old daughter, Willow, lounging on a bed with a shirtless 20-year-old actor.
"Here's the deal," Pinkett Smith, 42, told a TMZ.com videographer as she exited a car Wednesday night at Los Angeles International Airport. "There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it and," she emphasized, "you're acting like covert pedophiles and that's not cool."
She did not reply when the videographer asked if she would be comfortable with her daughter taking similar photos in the near future.
The media had reported Wednesday on a flurry of social-media comments that questioned the propriety of Willow Smith's two photos with Moises Arias, best known for having played Rico opposite Miley Cyrus on the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana." The 20-year-old is shirtless in both, sitting up in bed while a fully clothed Smith, laying down with her back to him, looks into the camera impassively.
While the photos were deleted from Arias' Tumblr and Instagram pages, they remained as of wednesday afternoon on his website, 490tx.com, with captions saying they were posted on April 27. Numerous other sites have reposted them.
Willow's father, "Men in Black" star Will Smith, has not commented on the online criticism.
E! Online Wednesday said Willow Smith has not been seen in public since the controversy began.
