Justin Bieber vacations in Panama after arrest
Out on $2,500 bail following his arrest in Miami Beach on Thursday on drag-racing and DUI charges, beleaguered pop star Justin Bieber is spending time in Panama with model Chantel Jeffries.
Us Weekly reported Sunday that the "Boyfriend" singer, 19, and friends are relaxing at the Nitro City Action Sports Resort at Punta Chame, on the Pacific Ocean side of the Central American isthmus. The magazine said the resort had been closed to the public and that Bieber was seen skateboarding with his friend and mentor, singer Usher, and the facility's sports director, Ricardo Conte.
The resort, which also has paintball, personal watercraft, motocross and athletic activities, is part of the Nitro Circus brand of DVDs and MTV sports-stunt specials.
TMZ.com additionally noted that Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, and childhood friend Ryan Butler have also flown to Nitro City, and speculated they may be there to stage an intervention. In the past year, Bieber has found himself under police scrutiny for reckless driving and confrontations with neighbors, and he has been under a harsh media spotlight due to temperamental behavior, including picking fights. Allegations of drug use have also dogged him.
The singer has also been targeted by Los Angeles police over vandalism involving eggs thrown at a neighbor's home. "We will have a dialogue with the district attorney and determine, based on what we have, when we should bring the case over," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. David Thompson told CNN on Friday.
