Reality TV star Kim Kardashian confirmed Monday that she and her boyfriend of several months, rapper Kanye West, are having a child together.
"It's true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby," Kardashian, 32, posted on her website after West's surprise announcement to the audience at his Atlantic City concert Sunday night.
"We feel so blessed and lucky," she continued, "and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo."
West's mother, educator and author Donda West, who had served as chair of the English Department at Chicago State University, died of a heart attack on Nov. 10, 2007.
Kardashian's father was the noted defense attorney Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003 of esophageal cancer at 59.
With Kim Kardashian in the crowd at the Revel Resort's Ovation Hall, West, 35, sang, "Now you having my baby."
E! in a statement early Monday morning, said Kardashian "is about 12 weeks pregnant."
Most of the Kardashian clan tweeted about the news, including Kim's sisters.
Kourtney Kardashian wrote: "Another angel to welcome to our family. Overwhelmed with excitement!"
