Fashion designer and author Lauren Conrad, a former star of the MTV reality show "Laguna Beach" and its spinoff, "The Hills," on Sunday announced her engagement.

"I am very excited to share with you guys that William and I got engaged over the weekend," she wrote on her blog, referring to law student William Tell, formerly the rhythm guitarist of the 2000s band Something Corporate. "I am beyond thrilled! Get ready for lots more wedding content here . . . as we begin the planning process."

Alongside this she posted a close-up of a large diamond engagement ring. Shortly afterward, Conrad added: "William and I are overwhelmed by all of your warm wishes. Thank you so much for sharing in this special moment."

This will be the first marriage for both. Conrad, 27, had a three-year relationship through 2011 with actor Kyle Howard (Bobby Newman on TBS' "My Boys"), and had earlier dated two of her reality shows' castmates, Stephen Colletti and Brody Jenner. Another castmate she had dated, Jason Wahler, married his longtime girlfriend Ashley Slack on Saturday.

Conrad and Tell, 33, began dating on Valentine's Day 2012, said Us Weekly, and he recently moved into her condominium in Los Angeles' Westwood neighborhood. "I met my boyfriend on a setup," she described to Allure afterward. "I did not go with high hopes, though. What was nice about us is we both went in with preconceptions, but they were quickly broken."

Tell says on his LinkedIn page that he has been a legal intern at Ziffren Brittenham LLP since May 2013, and previously interned at the business-affairs offices of both Warner Bros. Records and Rhino Records. He attends the University of Southern California Law School.
