Trawick announced Friday on "Access Hollywood" that he and Spears, 30, are engaged.
Earlier Friday, Spears had hinted at the news when she tweeted "OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I've been waiting for. Can't wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo."
Us Weekly reported that Trawick requested her hand in marriage Thursday night, his 40th birthday, during a private dinner. The magazine said the couple planned to celebrate their engagement Friday night at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
Trawick, 40, is the son of Setauket's William T. Trawick and wife Susan, a former art teacher at Sachem South. Trawick, who graduated from Sachem North in 1990, was a defenseman for the school's Flaming Arrows ice hockey and dek clubs under Paul Longo, now head football coach at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach.
Later, while living on Maria Court in Holbrook in 1996, Trawick received two patents for inventing a type of beach bag. He went on to become an agent at the prominent William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, where he began representing Spears in 2006. He no longer represents her. Spears and Trawick werein the singer's controversial music video for "Criminal," playing gun-toting robbers.
Spears has visited Trawick's parents on Long Island and reportedly has gone shopping with him at the boutique Milk & Honey in Huntington, and visited The Irish Times Pub and Restaurant in Holbrook.
