Baldwin's Melanie Martinez advanced to the next round of "The Voice" Tuesday night, after an emotional performance of Ellie Goulding's "Lights."

The 17-year-old singer edged out Boston's Caitlin Michele in what judge Christina Aguilera called the day's "prettiest and most moving performance." Her team leader Adam Levine said he decided to go with Martinez because she "moved me the most from the beginning."

Martinez, who initially struggled with the song, responded by giving Levine a hug and telling him, "Thank you so much," while fighting back tears. She had already made a strong impression on her mentor Mary J. Blige during rehearsals of the song. "I was completely shocked," Blige said of Martinez's voice. "She looks like a little girl, but she has so much depth to her."

With Tuesday night's win, Martinez moves to the show's round of 32 and will compete again next month.
