Reports last month said that Lohan would undergo rehab at Seafield Center in Westhampton Beach. TMZ.com said Lohan, whose family lives in Merrick, decided against Seafield because of its strict no-smoking policy. Morningside staff members told TMZ that their facility does allow smoking.
E! said that Lohan's choice of Morningside Recovery was made within the past 48 hours.
Lohan's spokeswoman told Newsday she had no comment.
While Morningside has an administrative office with a public address, the facility says on its website that patients live at "client homes" throughout the Balboa Peninsula and on Lido Isle in Newport Beach, and in nearby Costa Mesa, for which addresses were not given.
An attorney for Lohan was to appear in Los Angeles County Superior Court Thursday with proof of enrollment at a rehabilitation center, TMZ said.
Lohan pleaded no contest March 18 to two misdemeanors in relation to an auto accident last June 8, in which her Porsche collided with an 18-wheel truck. Prosecutors filed charges in late November after detectives said Lohan had untruthfully told police she was not the driver.
Lohan posted an Instagram photo of herself Wednesday in a messy room filled with suitcases, clothes and shoes, captioned "90 days and 270 looks." The photo was later removed from Lohan's Instagram account, but not before it had been displayed on many entertainment websites.
