The moon seems to have been the inspiration for Penélope Cruz and her husband, Javier Bardem, when it came to naming their new daughter.

The Oscar-winning couple named their baby girl Luna Encinas Cruz, according to Spain's Vanitas magazine. Luna is the Spanish word for moon, and Encinas is Bardem's first surname. The baby's name was registered in Madrid's central registrar office last Tuesday.

Cruz, 39, gave birth in Madrid at the Ruber International hospital on July 22, the same day Britain's Prince George was born. Baby Luna is the second child for Bardem, 44, and Cruz, who also have a son, Leo, who was born in Los Angeles in 2011.

Meanwhile, moviegoers will get to see Bardem and Cruz when they co-star with Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Cameron Diaz in the legal thriller "The Counselor," which is scheduled for release in October.
