WCBS/2 anchor Rob Morrison will be in a Connecticut court Tuesday to face domestic abuse charges.

The newsman was arrested early Sunday morning after his mother-in-law called police claiming he was choking his wife, reporter Ashley Morrison, in their home, according to a news release from the Darien, Conn., police department.

Morrison, 44, who anchors the network's local morning show, was charged with strangulation, threatening and disorderly conduct, and was released on $100,000 bail, police said.

Ashley Morrison is a reporter for CBS Money Watch, a business news multimedia website.

During its 5 p.m. news broadcast Monday, WCBS/2 read a statement by the Morrison family saying they are cooperating with the investigation and the "allegations have been greatly exaggerated."

The couple has a son, whose age could not be confirmed Monday night.
