Comedian Rosie O'Donnell and her wife of seven months, Michelle Rounds, are the parents of a baby girl.

"We r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota," O'Donnell posted Wednesday afternoon with an Instagram photo of a smiling Rounds in a white robe and the couple holding what appears to be a newborn. "#withloveandthanks -- AMEN."

The couple welcomed Dakota -- who weighed in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces -- through adoption on Jan. 5, O'Donnell's representative told People magazine. "Moms and baby are healthy and happy," the rep said.

This is the first child for the couple, who were wed in a private ceremony in New York on June 9, soon after Rounds was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, an extremely rare, cancer-like disease. In August, O'Donnell had a heart attack and was treated in the intensive care unit.

O'Donnell, 50, has four other children: Parker Jaren, 17, whom she adopted in 1995; Chelsea Belle, 15, adopted in 1997; and Blake Christopher, 13, adopted with then-partner Kelli Carpenter in 1999; and Vivienne Rose, 10, born to Carpenter through artificial insemination.

O'Donnell and Carpenter, who came out as a couple in 1997, married Feb. 26, 2004, in California during a window of legal same-sex marriage there. In November 2009, O'Donnell confirmed that Carpenter had moved out of their home two years before.

After a relationship with Texas-based artist Tracy Kachtick-Anders, O'Donnell in the summer of 2011 met Rounds, then an executive search consultant, at a Starbucks.
