Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall are engaged.
The billionaire businessman and executive chairman of News Corp., 84, and the former supermodel and actress, 59, made the announcement in Murdoch’s newspaper, The Times, on Tuesday.
The couple “have been dating since late summer after being introduced by one of Mr Murdoch’s sisters and his niece, Penny Fowler, in Australia,” according to the notice posted in the paper’s Births, Marriages and Deaths page.
Murdoch was most recently married to Chinese-born Wendi Deng, 47, from 1999 until 2013. He and Deng have two daughters, Grace Helen and Chloe. The Australian magnate is also the father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan and James Murdoch, his children from two previous marriages.
Hall, originally from Texas, had a long-term relationship with The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, which yielded four children: Georgia May, Elizabeth, James and Gabriel. Hall and Jagger were together from 1977 until 1999.
Murdoch and Hall made a rare public appearance at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony “after getting engaged over the weekend in Los Angeles,” according to The Times’ announcement.
Hall did not appear to be wearing an engagement ring to the star-studded ceremony, People magazine said.
The couple first made their romance public in October, when Murdoch kissed Hall on the cheek at the Rugby World Cup final in London.
