Scarlett Johansson has been named Esquire magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive 2013," succeeding last year's titleholder, fellow actress Mila Kunis.
"I'm the only woman to win it twice, right?" she asked writer Tom Chiarella in the magazine's November issue. She said she accepted the award and submitted to the photo shoot, video and interview that accompany it, because, "You know, I gotta hustle. I'm a 28-year-old woman in the movie business, right? Pretty soon the roles you're offered all become mothers. Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work -- theater, producing, this thing with Esquire."
The magazine previously named her "Sexiest Woman Alive" in 2006, the third year of the designation.
Johansson -- who's currently starring in "Don Jon" and reprises her "Iron Man 2" and "The Avengers" role as Natasha Romanoff / the Black Widow in next year's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" -- told the magazine, "I don't really aspire to being rational. I'm more attracted to the irrational. . . . Like, it's OK to be jealous, for example, which people think is irrational. To let yourself care that much that the emotion might hurt you a little."
The actress, who became engaged in August to former journalist Romain Dauriac, said, "Look, I'm with a Frenchman. I think jealousy comes with the territory. But I'd rather be with someone who's a little jealous than someone who's never jealous. There's something a little dead fish about them. A little bit depressing. It may not make sense, but you need to feel it a little. I know, irrational, right?"
Johansson was married to actor Ryan Reynolds in 2010 when he was named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive."
