Description:
The American Hotel, which has eight guest rooms, is a local landmark. It's known for very good food and a wine list nearly as long as a Russian novel. There are about 1,700 selections in this entertaining volume. The establishment has its regulars and is in its own way a tourist attraction, too. You'll enjoy the vintage style of the place, which appears to preside over downtown Sag Harbor in Empire and Victorian fashion.
Hours: Lunch, noon to 3 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m., every day. Reservations: Recommended Notable dishes: Steaks, chops, local seafood.
