On his well-received host and musical-guest appearance on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend, Justin Timberlake slyly seemed to respond to a recent jibe from rapper Kanye West.
While performing his new single "Suit & Tie," which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Timberlake, 32, changed a lyric from " ---- so sick/got a hit and picked up a habit" to "My hit's so sick got rappers acting dramatic."
In a Feb. 23 concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, West, 35, delivered a roughly 10-minute freestyle rant about topics including the Grammy Awards, corporate sponsorships and "Suit & Tie," which Timberlake co-wrote with rapper Jay-Z and others. "I got love for Hov," West told the crowd, using a nickname for Jay-Z, "but I ain't ---- with that 'Suit & Tie.' "
West's remark came after Timberlake and Jay-Z performed "Suit & Tie" together during a show on Super Bowl weekend and then again at the Grammys, and to the two having announced their joint "Legends of the Summer" tour. Jay-Z had toured with West in 2011 and 2012.
Timberlake and Jay-Z's 12-date tour includes a July 19 Yankee Stadium show, for which general-public tickets go on sale Tuesday.
In addition to good notices for his "SNL" appearance, Saturday's edition of the show marked the fifth time Timberlake has hosted -- leading to an all-star sketch with fellow five-timers Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, Chevy Chase, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin and Paul Simon. Former cast-members Dan Aykroyd and Martin Short, non-five-timers, appeared as a bartender and a waiter, respectively.
