Otto's has been serving up classic seafood along Freeport's Nautical Mile since 1929 when it was established by Helen and Otto Koglin. Now the Koglin's children and grandchildren are steering the ship. Even by Freeport standards, the menu is heavy on nautical puns. "Casting off" bar nibbles include coconut shrimp, garlic bread with mozzarella, chicken tenders and the forbidding-sounding Otto's Onion Urchin (think Bloomin' onion). Among "Clam digger delights" are clams (raw, baked, casino, oreganata), oysters (raw, Rockefeller or "screaming") and mussels marinara. "Hooked and cooked" entrees include grilled swordfish, sole Florentine, fried oysters and stuffed flounder. "Land lubbers" can order one of three steaks and, it was inevitable, "Captain Kidds" have their choice of linguine, burgers, fried shrimp, fried sole or chicken tenders.
