Friday marked one year since Joan Rivers died at the age of 81 after experiencing complications during a procedure on her throat. The comedian has fans all over the world, but none as big or as doting as her daughter, Melissa Rivers.
Though it has been difficult for Rivers since her mother's death, she said the support from Joan Rivers' fans has helped her cope. On Friday, Melissa Rivers posted a note on Twitter expressing her feelings.
"This was a year of firsts: first holidays, first birthdays, first everything without mom, without grandma," she wrote. "While it's been difficult, I've been amazed by the outpouring of love and overwhelming kindness we've received from family, friends and people whose lives were touched by the woman they knew as Joan -- a woman we all miss so much."
