Jennifer Lopez was named No. 1 on this year's Forbes Celebrity 100 List, displacing Lady Gaga, last year's champ.
Sparked by her "American Idol" popularity and her multiplatinum album, "On the Floor," Lopez, 42, whose homes include an estate in Brookville, catapulted from last year's No. 50.
(Both Us and E! Online reported Wednesday that Lopez would not be returning to "Idol" next season because of scheduling conflicts. A Fox spokeswoman said the network would have no comment on the reports.)
Forbes noted that in the past year, Lopez became the new face of L'Oreal, signed deals with Gillette, Fiat and TOUS jewelry, and that Kohl's called her clothing collection the biggest financial launch in the chain's history.
Forbes also credited Lopez with a remarkable career comeback after several film flops and disappointing CD sales. The magazine also noted that Lopez topped People magazine's 2011 Most Beautiful list and was a Glamour Woman of the Year.
Forbes formulates its list by weighing several different factors, including money earned, presence on TV/radio, level of media attention and social media influence.Oprah Winfrey was the second-place finisher overall but remained the tops in earnings, raking in $165 million, according to Forbes. Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Lady Gaga rounded out the top five.
