You saw her in Southold, you saw her in Greenport – now see her in theaters.

Katie Holmes drew plenty of attention last November when she shot “The Romantics” around the North Fork. Now Paramount Pictures has announced the film’s release date, September 24.

Based on the novel by Galt Niederhoffer (also the writer and director), “The Romantics” stars Holmes and Anna Paquin as friends who have long vied for the affections of cutie-pie Tom (Josh Duhamel). He’s picked one as his bride, but after a few pre-wedding drinks things aren’t so clear.

The movie seems to mark Holmes’ return to the big screen after marrying Tom Cruise in 2006. She was last seen in a supporting role in the heist-comedy “Mad Money” in 2008.

Holmes has at least two more films scheduled for release this year, the comedy-drama “The Extra Man” (with Kevin Kline as a male escort) and “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark,” a remake of a 1978 made-for-television chiller about a housewife terrorized by fiendish creatures.
