In one of her more candid interviews, Lindsay Lohan is talking about her history of cocaine use and why she went to rehab.
Lohan said her estranged father Michael Lohan first got her curious about the drug. "I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad," she told the British newspaper The Sun. "I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid, and wanted to see what it was like."
Lohan was nabbed with cocaine in two separate DUI incidents in 2007, Us magazine reports. She has gone to rehab three times.
She now says she regrets her cocaine use. "It's not something I ever want to do again," she said. "It made me feel like -- . It became uninteresting to me. I'm hyper anyway and I have that kind of personality so I don't need something like that."
"For the record, Michael Lohan says" that "Linds' problems are due to his divorce and her prescription drug use," according to E! Online.
Lohan said her descent began in 2007, after her father began speaking negatively about her in the press. She said she hit "rock bottom" and began abusing "alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances" to "mask" her problems.
What drove her into rehab for the first time was the result of what happened the night she took the sleeping aid Ambien and got into a bathtub. "I'd run a bath and fallen asleep on the floor and the bath had overflowed," she said. "When I woke up, I was so scared. I called my therapist and said, 'Can I just go somewhere for a month?' " she says. " 'I'm around bad people and I need to take care of myself.' I was terrified, so I put myself in." But today, Lohan says she's "in a place where I don't need to use anything and I can feel emotions because I choose to."
