Designer Exhibit in Southampton

A trend-setting industrial designer is being celebrated in the Parrish Art Museum exhibit "Raymond Loewy: Designs for a Consumer Culture," this month through May 27. The exhibit in Southampton showcases original drawings, models, products, advertisements, photographs and rare film footage of Loewy, the most prominent industrial designer of the 20th century. Flowers That Bloom in the Spring

May is busting out all over at Long Island's public gardens with tulips, azaleas, lilacs and other flowering plants filling many a field and flower bed. On the East End, the LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton includes a gallery and sculpture gardens, which are open Wednesday and Saturday from 2-5 p.m. Admission costs $10/adults, $8/senior citizens, and its free to children under 12 accompanied by an adult. Way Off Broadway

Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor begins its 2007 schedule with the East Coast premiere of Wendy MacLeod's "Things Being What They Are," a new comedy about two men who are neighbors and are at a crossroads in their lives and marriages. (631-725-9500)

Guild Hall's John Drew Theater in East Hampton also raises the curtain with its "Naked Stage" series, which features staged readings of new plays May 8 and May 22 at 7 p.m. both days. (631-324-0806)
