Students in Karen Higgin's fifth-grade class, Willow Road School in Franklin Square asked for brave parent volunteers to come to our fifth-grade classroom to take an "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" quiz.

The students worked together to create 20 questions we thought an average fifth-grader would know the answers to. We wondered if the adults would know them, too.

We asked the 10 volunteer test-takers about the American Revolution, fifth-grade math, literary devices, Native Americans and art.

The game was so much fun. The adults were all a bit nervous when we started. Some adults knew the answers right away, but some needed help from a fifth-grader. They were able to ask for help, but they couldn't get full credit for that question. At least one adult needed help on every question!

Each question was worth two points. There was a maximum of 40 points for the quiz. If the adult asked for help, they only earned one point for that answer.

We mixed up the papers and the students graded the quizzes. The parents' scores ranged from 26 to 39. Not one adult got a perfect score!

Now it's time for you to take our quiz! Answers are at the bottom, no peeking!
