Mother's Day spa packages

With Mother's Day right around the corner, the hunt for the perfect gift begins. Rather than settle for the standard flowers or brunch, a day of rest, relaxation and pampering at a local spa is a luxurious option that she'll be sure to remember.
"A lot of mothers are stressed out," says Melissa Tara, the owner of Moss Spa & Yoga in Cold Spring Harbor. "Whether it's a facial or a massage or getting your nails done, it's about healing your body. You're giving the gift of peace and serenity in a very fun way."
Mom Kim Gioia of Glen Head agrees that spa days are a perfect way to relax, but for her, the experience is about being pampered while bonding with her daughters. She says she visits spas with Jacqueline, 15, and Jessica, 10, not just for Mother's Day, but for every major holiday. At The Village Spa in Roslyn Village, all three of them fit into one room for side-by-side massages, followed by a light breakfast or lunch.
"I don't get a lot of time alone with them," she says. "A spa day is a great experience. It makes them feel mature. It's big girl time with mom."
From the standard facial, massage and manicure/pedicure, to the more adventurous body wrap, water journey and one-on-one yoga, here are a few places across Long Island where you can find spa packages fit for a queen... or for your mom.
Luxury made simple
With locations in Garden City and Woodbury Village, the Red Door Spa offers three distinct Mother's Day packages, each of which comes with a gift-boxed spa robe (516-747-7474, 516-364-6780). The "Gentle Touch" package, $245, includes a signature massage or facial with a warm cream manicure and pedicure, two-and-a-half hours of pampering. The "Peace and Quiet," a half-day package for $345, includes the signature massage, facial and manicure, plus a candle and a spa lunch, catered from Gourmet Grill in Garden City or Laguna Grill in Woodbury. Finally, the "Ultimate Embrace," a full-day six-hour package for $498, includes the signature massage, manicure and pedicure, an ultimate Arden facial, a candle and aromatic diffuser, plus the lunch.
A spa water journey
At Westbury's Maximus Spa Salon, the signature service, a "Water Journey with Massage," includes hours of soaking and scrubbing for $150 (516-222-8880). The package starts in the hydrotherapy tub, an intense bubble bath with 150 water and air jets. Next up is a soft salt scrub full-body exfoliation. The final step of the journey is spent relaxing under a cascading waterfall. After the water journey, a Swedish massage will have even the most stressed out moms in a total state of relaxation. For even more pampering, the "Pure Day of Beauty," $399, includes the water journey and massage plus a deep treatment facial, a spa manicure and pedicure, a hair treatment, haircut and styling, makeup application and a light spa lunch.
A potpourri of packages
Drawing celebrities including Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger to its Southampton location, Ananas Spa, which translates to pineapple, the international symbol of welcome and hospitality, customizes everything for the client to create a personalized, relaxing experience (631-287-9099). With more than a dozen spa packages, most of them perfect for mom, the "Spoiled Angel" and "Aphrodisia" are among the favorites. For $410, the "Spoiled Angel" includes a black mud body treatment, a facial with reflexology and a spa manicure and pedicure. The "Aphrodisia" includes a lavender salt glow treatment, a facial, a hand and feet paraffin treatment and a manicure and pedicure, all for $365. For mothers and daughters who want to spa together, a special package includes side-by-side massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, three-and-a-half hours of treatments, for $690.
A spa and shopping getaway
Throughout the month of May, mothers and daughters can escape for shopping and relaxing with a special package at The Inn and Spa at East Wind in Wading River (631-929-3500). The package, $399, includes an overnight stay any night except Saturday. After changing into a robe and slippers, the spa service includes a Champagne & Roses manicure and pedicure, plus access to the indoor heated pool, fitness center, saunas and steam rooms. A three-course dinner is served at Desmond's Restaurant inside East Wind and breakfast the next morning are also included. A coupon book with more than $1,000 worth of designer discounts at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, which houses Calvin Klein, BCBG and Michael Kors, is also part of the package.
One-on-one yoga
In the light-filled studio of Moss Spa & Yoga in Cold Spring Harbor, it'd be hard not to feel relaxed (631-470-8090). Opened last February, the spa focuses on using organic treatments with yoga to connect the body and spirit. Half-day and full-day spa packages include a one-on-one yoga class, customized massage, facial, light lunch, manicure and pedicure. All packages are customizable, so prices will vary. For $95, an introductory "Spring into Moss!" package includes a 30-minute buff and shine manicure with vegan polish, 30-minute Vitamin C mini-facial and 30-minute hot shea butter back scrub. Yoga classes are offered throughout the week and by appointment, starting at $15 per session. Your mom will be saying "Namaste" for days to come.
Mother-daughter bonding time
For a charming, private spa experience in a quaint farmhouse, The Village Spa in Roslyn offers packages to fit every fancy (516-625-0019). For Mother's Day, a favorite package is the "Tea for Two," which starts with entry into a suite with a private bathroom, flat-screen TV and collection of DVDs, where the services are provided and the tea is served. For $270, mothers and daughters will unwind with a neck wrap and foot soak followed with side-by-side massages. A tea service with a glass of wine wraps up the afternoon. "The Chocolate Experience," $350 for two hours, similarly includes the neck wraps, foot soaks, tea service and wine, but swaps in a side-by-side chocolate body wrap for the massage.
