Oops - did you forget to do something?
It's New Year's Eve, and procrastinators everywhere are scrambling to find something - anything - that isn't booked solid. Lest you be among those who have no place to go, here's a look at some venues hosting festivities tonight that still have last-minute availability.
FOR THE NIGHTLIFE CROWD
Hundreds of well-dressed 20- and 30-somethings are expected at the massive Westbury mega-club GLO , where DJ Vic Latino will spin dance hits until 6 a.m. A $35 cover charge will be levied at the door and includes a champagne toast and early-morning breakfast (516-794-8022, glonightclubli.com).
In Port Jefferson, Aqua at Danfords is toasting the new year with a party that starts at 8 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres, DJ music by Jenny Costa and a live feed of the Times Square ball drop accompanied by a champagne toast. Admission is $40 - or $75 for open bar until 1 a.m. (631-928-5200, aquanightclub.com).
Less expensive: $20 gets you into both Silk in Hauppauge and in Farmingdale. Admission includes three drinks and early-morning continental breakfast. The catch? You must buy tickets online before you arrive (lisilk.com or thecrazydonkey.com).
For 30-somethings and the over-40 crowd, Sugar Dining Den and Social Club in Carle Place is hosting a live broadcast from WKTU/103.5 FM. Still available is its $85 package that includes open bar from 9:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m. or a $250-per-person "dine and stay" deal that starts with a six-course, shared-plate dinner and drinks. Seatings begin at 9 p.m. - but you'll keep your table for the rest of the evening and get a bottle of tequila or vodka, plus a bottle of champagne for every three people in your party (516-248-7600, sugarli.com).
Seats are still available for 8 and 11 p.m. shows at in Levittown, where headliner Mike Yard will entertain with jokes cracked in many dialects. Admission is $30-$40 plus a two-drink minimum - the late show includes a champagne toast at midnight (516-731-3358, govs.com).
In Bohemia, Kevin Downey Jr. takes the stage at McGuire's . Admission is $25 for the 8 p.m. show and $35 for the 11 p.m. show - plus a two-drink minimum. And no, he's not related to Robert Downey Jr. (631-467-5413, mcguirescomedyshows.com).
The Long Island Comedy Festival presents a string of acts at 8 p.m. including Rich Walker (he's opened for Ray Romano) and Frankie Pace ("Saturday Night Live") at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson. Admission is $35, which includes an early champagne toast (631-928-9100, theatrethree.com).
