THE DEAL The actor best known as Captain America is in talks to join DreamWorks' adaptation of the bestselling novel by Paula Hawkins, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Oscar winner Jared Leto is also considering joining the cast. The film stars Emily Blunt as an alcoholic who wakes up after a drinking binge covered in blood and begins to suspect she was involved in a crime. The book debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times Fiction Bestsellers list earlier this year and was frequently touted as the next "Gone Girl." The director is Tate Taylor ("The Help").

THE DEAL The director, best known for comedies like "The Other Guys," is suddenly entering a dramatic film into this year's awards-season race, according to reports. McKay's film, starring Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell, is based on Michael Lewis' nonfiction book about the housing and credit bubble of the 2000s. Paramount has given the film a high-profile date of Dec. 11, when it will compete against heavy hitters like the Jennifer Lawrence vehicle "Joy" and the Will Smith football drama, "Concussion," not to mention "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

THE EVENT Home Sweet Home Movies

THE DEAL In celebration of the Town of Southampton's 375th anniversary, the Parrish Art Museum is asking the public to submit 8 mm, Super 8 or 16 mm format home movies and amateur films that highlight the region. Selected films will be compiled into a program titled Home Sweet Home Movies and screened Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. in the museum's Lichtenstein Theater.
