A publicist for the film, which remains scheduled for a Dec. 18, 2015, release, told the UK's Sky News channel, however, that the filmmakers were "hoping to announce some good news soon" about Ford, 71, who is reprising his role as space smuggler turned rebel hero Han Solo.

The actor was injured by the door of the character's Millennium Falcon spacecraft Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London and was hospitalized.
