"Lindsay is not signed to do the Gotti film, nor is she currently in talks to do the film," her spokesman, Steve Honig, told Newsday. "Lindsay's representatives and film producers were unable to come to an agreement. Lindsay has the utmost respect for [director] Barry Levinson and the producers, and would love to be able to work with them at some point."
Lohan, 25, is currently filming the Lifetime TV-movie "Liz & Dick," in which she stars as film icon Elizabeth Taylor.
The "Mean Girls" star had been slated to play Kim Gotti, wife of mobster Gotti's son, John A. Gotti. "I'm really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do," Lohan told The Associated Press, speaking about the Gotti film in April 2011. Producer Fiore Films said at the time that Lohan had signed a two-picture deal, encompassing both the Gotti movie and "Mob Street," being written by Chazz Palminteri. "That film is still in development," Honig said Thursday. "No one has been signed for it yet."
Initial reports at that time had erroneously claimed Lohan would be playing Victoria Gotti, the don's daughter, who starred in the 2004-05 reality-TV series "Growing Up Gotti."
Scripted by James Toback, "Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father" stars Travolta as the Gambino crime-family capo. No production start date has been announced.
