Lindsay Lohan to star with James Deen in movie, author says
Lindsay Lohan will co-star with adult-film actor James Deen in a film that novelist Bret Easton Ellis has scripted for director Paul Schrader, Ellis said Tuesday. Schrader, though, said casting was not finalized.
"I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in The Canyons by BEE," Ellis tweeted Tuesday, referring to himself by his initials. The contemporary thriller, which raised $159,000 on a Kickstarter campaign that ended Saturday, is set to shoot in Los Angeles July 9-31, Ellis wrote, adding, "Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it . . . "
Hours afterward, however, director Schrader posted on the film's Facebook page, "Despite what may be reported elsewhere, casting on 'The Canyons' is not quite finalized. We're approaching resolution. When the casting is complete, I'll write a report about the [casting] process, naming the names of those we were most impressed with as well as anecdotal details. Many wonderful young actors submitted auditions and I like to bring some of them to wider attention."
A spokesman for Lohan, 25, did not immediately return a request for comment.
Deen, 25, is unusual in the adult-film industry in that he has a fan following among teenage girls, the subject of a "Nightline" story in February.
