THE MOVIE “The House of Tomorrow”

THE DEAL Filmmaker Judd Apatow’s daughter will join Asa Butterfield, Alex Wolff, Nick Offerman and Michaela Watkins in a new film by first-time director Peter Livolsi. The movie, based on Peter Bognanni’s novel, tells the story of futurist architect R. Buckminster Fuller through the eyes of two teenagers. Apatow, 18, has so far starred mostly in her dad’s films, including “Funny People” and “This Is 40.”

THE DEAL North Shore native John Budion continues to film his coming-of-age drama around Long Island this week, including at houses in Hempstead and East Rockaway. Budion’s semiautobiographical film about two troubled brothers and their close-knit group of friends stars Keidrich Sellati, James DiGiacomo, Tanner Flood and newcomer Maxwell Apple. This is Budion’s first feature.

THE EVENT The Long Beach International Film Festival

THE DEAL The fifth annual festival runs Wednesday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 5, at two venues in Long Beach. The lineup includes a range of features, documentaries and the popular outdoor Shorts on the Beach series. There will also be live performances by Long Island artists, including “American Idol” contestant Robbie Rosen and the reggae-rock band Groundswell.
