THE DEAL The studio K5 is closing international rights to a new movie featuring the “Star Wars” cast member as a bus driver who lives in and is named for the city of Paterson, New Jersey, Variety reports. The film, coproduced by Amazon Studios and directed by Jim Jarmusch, stars Driver as a bus driver whose daily routine includes writing poetry and drinking exactly one beer each day while supporting a high-spirited wife (Golshifteh Farahani). Jarmusch’s film played to positive reviews at last month’s Cannes International Film Festival. THE MOVIE “Alien: Covenant”
THE DEAL The Swedish actress will reprise her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rapace, who first played the role in 2010’s “Prometheus,” rejoins Michael Fassbender as the android David along with franchise newcomers Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride. The film is in production in Australia and is set for release in August 2017.
WHO Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani
THE MOVIE “A Moment of Silence”
THE DEAL Italian filmmaker Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani will come from Rome to Long Island next week to speak at a screening of his documentary about the rise of Evo Morales, the first indigenous president of Bolivia. Also attending will be Bolivian political refugee and human rights activist Hugo Acha. The film, four years in the making, features interviews with political consultant Stanley Greenberg and former President Sánchez de Lozada, known to his countrymen as “Goni,” who lives in exile in the United States.
