Are Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce singing the same tune?

The songwriter has spoken.

Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote both Beyoncé's "Halo" and Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone," said he was hurt that the first "American Idol" winner blamed him for the songs' similarities.

Clarkson told a Canadian radio station that she fought to keep "Gone" from being released after she heard B's "Halo" and noticed a resemblance. The lyrics are different -- they tackle opposite ends of relationships ("Halo" = lovey-dovey; "Already Gone" = get lost) -- but the music is basically the same. Although Beyoncé's song was released first, Clarkson said "Already Gone" was written back when she was still on "Idol."

Then Tedder, the front man for pop band OneRepublic, released a statement: "They are two entirely different songs ... I would never try to dupe an artist such as Kelly Clarkson or Beyoncé into recording over the same musical track. The idea is both hurtful and absurd."

What do you think? The songs are below...
