SUPERCHUNK
Sept. 18 at Bowery Ballroom; Sept. 19 at Music Hall of Williamsburg | Buy tickets
It's been nine years since the indie rock heroes last released a new album, but the excellent "Majesty Shredding" (in stores Sept. 14) may have made the wait, punctuated with occasional tours and the ongoing operations of Merge Records, worth it. The new songs will, no doubt, make the already mighty 'Chunk live show that much better.
Happy Halloween!
Your neighbors aren't the only ones handing out treats today, though. A bunch of bands have gotten into the giving spirit to offer some sweet limited-edition freebies that aren't bad for your teeth.
Indie-rock pioneers Superchunk are continuing the new holiday tradition they started last Halloween by offering a free download of The Misfits' “Where Eagles Dare” on their website.
New York newcomers Cookies, including Ben Sterling of Mobius Band, have combined their song “Katharine” with the Janet Jackson classic “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” available on their website.
The wonderful Matt & Kim have taken an extra step for their Halloween treat, creating a zombie-themed video with pals Andrew W.K. and Soulja Boy (?) for the catchy “I'm a Goner.” You can download the song through converse.com and watch the video here.
