Get the sledgehammers ready!

Peter Gabriel is planning a North American tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the classic “So” album. The “Back to Front Tour,” which will feature Gabriel and members of the original “So” touring band performing the album in its entirety along with other hits from his catalog, starts Sept. 16 in Quebec. The tour stops at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Sept. 23.

Gabriel's tour coincides with a reissue of “So,” a box set and a 3-CD edition, on Sept. 18. Though the No. 1 hit “Sledgehammer,” along with its groundbreaking video, is the album's best known song, “In Your Eyes” may have had a broader impact on popular culture for its use in the movie “Say Anything,” when John Cusack's character Lloyd Dobler plays it on a boombox that he holds over his head to win back his girlfriend.

Would it be too much to have an homage to that moment as part of this tour? Or having Kate Bush stop by for “Don't Give Up” and Laurie Anderson appear for “This Is the Picture”? We can only hope.
