Jay-Z + Nas = Hip-hop's biggest night?

Mets and Yankees fans dream of another Subway Series, where the World Series shuttles between the Bronx and Queens. But if the gods of baseball smile on hip-hop fans Friday night, there could be a legendary night in the making.

Sure, everyone knows by now that Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake are taking over Yankees Stadium Friday night for their “Legends of the Summer” tour. But did you know Nas will be playing Citi Field Friday night after the Mets-Phillies game? It’s true. One ticket gets you a seat for both the game and the concert.

So here’s where the baseball gods come in . . . What if the Mets and Phillies get engaged in some marathon game like the Mets’ 16-inning, five-and-a-half-hour victory over the San Francisco Giants a couple weeks ago? That would put the start time of the Nas show after midnight, making it possible for hip-hop fans to see the “Legends of the Summer” show and head out to Queens to see Nas. (Tickets are still available for the Mets game/Nas show. The Jay-Z/Timberlake show is sold out.)

Of course, people could simply pick a side and see Jay or Nas, but seeing both Jay-Z and Nas doing full sets at New York’s baseball stadiums in one night? That would definitely be worth a new verse in “Empire State of Mind” or “If I Ruled the World.”
