Gregg Allman’s inaugural Laid Back Festival did so well last year at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater that he has decided to expand it to five cities this year.
“We had so much fun last year, that it seemed like we should try this in other towns,” Allman said in a statement. “The idea was to put the Laid Back vibe on more than just the music. It had to be about food and drink too, and the people just loved it. So we’re coming back and taking it on the road!”
Laid Back returns to Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on July 23. No artists have been announced for the two stages — the main Laid Back stage and the Low Country stage.
Last year, Allman closed out the show and curated the bill, which also included the Doobie Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and Bernie Williams.
“Laid Back Festival was one of the highlights of the 2015 Jones Beach season.” said Steve Gaber, Live Nation’s vice president of booking in New York. “It’s a great day of music, food and friends, and we couldn’t be happier to bring the experience into new markets.”
Atlanta’s gets the first Laid Back Festival on May 7, while Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre gets the final one on Sept. 25.
Tickets are $20-$125 through Live Nation and go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 6.
