Marina Diamandis, of Marina and the Diamonds, is a multifaceted woman. In the course of the 13 tracks of "The Family Jewels" (Chop Shop/Atlantic), she scales Kate Bush's dramatic vocal heights ("Guilty"), offers the self-revelations of Lily Allen ("Are You Satisfied") and challenges Regina Spektor in the brainy storytelling department ("I Am Not a Robot"). Her boldest move, though, is in "Hollywood," where the Welsh-Greek singer declares, "I'm obsessed with the mess that's America" and then delivers lines in an accent that's more Canarsie than California. Luckily, she's clever and charming enough to even pull that off.
