No meat at The Pretenders' SummerStage concert

She was arrested for allegedly knifing a Gap window display that showed off leather and suede clothing. She also protested the Manhattan carriage-horse industry. And - and! - she opened VegiTerranean, a vegan restaurant, in her hometown of Akron, Ohio.
You get the feeling the awesomeness that is longtime vegetarian Chrissie Hynde, leader of The Pretenders, kinda likes animals . . . just a little bit, right?
To that end, concert promoter Live Nation will not be serving any meat products at the concession stands Monday evening when The Pretenders play Central Park SummerStage.
So instead of grabbing a hamburger or hot dog, you can munch on veggie burgers, pasta salad and mozzarella-tomato-basil sandwiches. And if you happened to win The Pretenders' contest that radio station WRXP/101.9 FM held, you'll be able to eat your healthy fill at a promotional preshow vegetarian barbecue. Yum.
