Sting and Peter Gabriel are teaming up for a summer tour, stopping at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on June 24 and Madison Square Garden on June 27, where they will perform separately and together.
The “Rock Paper Scissors” tour reunites the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, who toured together in the ’80s as part of the Amnesty International tours.
“I’m very happy that we’re taking the chance to experiment this way,” Sting said in a statement. “I think people will be intrigued, I certainly am.”
Gabriel added, “What intrigues me is that you get a good bunch of musicians together and interesting things will happen.”
The duo say they plan to start each show together, followed by a solo set, another handful of duets, and the other’s solo set.
“The songs that we trade, the songs that we sing together will have an unexpected, we hope, result,” Sting said. “We don’t really know what it is.”
