Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson engaged?

Just days after photos emerged of Lindsay Lohan kissing her deejay gal pal, Samantha Ronson, rumor now has it that there's a lot more to the smooch - a wedding in fact.

Whether for real or for show, there's talk that the troubled 21-year-old actress is engaged to Ronson, 30, who's openly gay, and has been Lohan's inseparable sidekick for more than a year.

But let's not start calling them the "Rohan Clan" just yet.

Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane, denied the reports, stating the women are not engaged and won't be following in the soon-to-be wedded footsteps of gay couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.

Sloane called all of the speculation about the star's sexual orientation and pondering over her reputation nonsense. "This is gross. She is not a bad girl. Leave her alone," Sloane wrote in an e-mail.

Lohan's estranged father, Michael Lohan, all but confirmed the duo's "more than friends" status in an interview Tuesday for Us Weekly, saying the pair's relationship is "evident to anyone with half a brain." He later denied making those remarks in OK! magazine.

Regardless of whether Lohan and Ronson are "out," they are still out-and-about and adding to the lengthening dossier of Lohan shenanigans. Hollywood observers say none of it bodes well for Lohan's image and marketability - especially after a string of box office flops, like last year's "I Know Who Killed Me."

"If this contributes to a bad-girl image, I'm not sure it's good for her career," said MSNBC.com Scoop columnist Courtney Hazlett, who notes impulsive moves are not exactly out of character for Lohan.

"Her image was based on something cute and sweet," Hazlett said. "The farther she steps away from that, the less well she's been received in the public and in the industry. The people I've spoken to in the industry who are giving her work or choosing not to give her work want to see something stable."

The engagement rumors ignited and ripped across the Web Tuesday in both U.S. and European tabloids after Lohan was photographed in a steamy lip-lock with Ronson at an A-list party at the Cannes Film Festival. The talk has even gone as far as speculation of a wedding at Dolly Parton's Dollywood theme park.

British tabloid the Daily Star ran photos Tuesday of Lohan sporting a ring on her wedding finger and reported the actress had told a pack of Cannes paparazzi she was engaged to Ronson.

Should it turn out that Lohan and Ronson really do surface as a couple, they will have some support.

Damon Romine, entertainment media director at Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said the organization "applauds any one in the public eye who chooses to live their life openly and with authenticity."
