Here's the 'Beef'
Let's just get this out of the way now before anyone thinks anything about anything: Fuse is owned by Cablevision, which also owns Newsday.
There, I said it.
And if "Beef," an eight-part series chronicling the history of rap battles and feuds in hip-hop, was on any other network, I'd still be screaming for you all to watch it.
Oh, it's on TNT? I know drama. On HBO? This is TV! On Lifetime? Well, I don't know their tagline, but if they were airing this series, I'd Google it and make it make sense here.
Three episodes in, "Beef" airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. through Sept. 7. Set your DVRs. Activate your TiVos from work right now. Or just put your patoot in front of a television at 8 p.m. because "Beef" is awesome. We're talking Grade A, filet mignon king cut. A must-see for any hip-hop head.
Just a little taste of what you've missed so far:
- The birth of Kool Moe Dee and his famous dismantling of Busy Bee at Harlem World in 1981.
- KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions vs. Marley Marl and the Juice Crew.
- Dr. Dre vs. Easy E
- East Coast vs. West Coast
Yes, the DVD documentary has been out for some time, but if you never knew that or just never got around to it, now's your chance. In fact, here are the first three episodes in their entirety. Get caught up now.
Episode 1: The MC Battle, Vol. 1
Episode 2: The MC Battle, Vol. 2
Episode 3: Verbal Warfare, Vol. 1
