The news broke on April Fool's day, but apparently we're not being punk'd: Ashton Kutcher will be playing Apple wizard Steve Jobs in an independently produced biopic.

If you're having a hard time seeing the physical resemblance between the actor and the tech-guru, you're probably thinking of the slim, balding Jobs of recent years. The younger Jobs of the early 1980s actually looks remarkably like Kutcher, right down to the fine, dark hair.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Joshua Michael Stern ("Swing Vote") will begin filming "Jobs" in May during a break in Kutcher's shooting schedule for the series "Two and a Half Men."

Time may be of the essence: Sony already owns the rights to Walter Isaacson's authorized biography "Jobs," published just a few weeks before the Apple co-founder's death.
