Ellen DeGeneres named Oscar Awards host for 2014

Ellen DeGeneres has been named to host the 2014 Oscars, the Academy of Motion Pictures & Sciences has announced.

DeGeneres has held the position once before, in 2007, a year that saw "The Departed" win best picture.

"We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars," show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a news release.

She did well the first time around, at least according Oscar's sibling Emmy: DeGeneres was nominated for an Emmy Award for her 2007 hosting performance.

"I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say -- the third time's the charm," DeGeneres said in the same statement.

DeGeneres is grabbing the mic from Seth MacFarlane, who emceed the 2013 ceremony and was rumored to be asked to do another stint.

The Oscar Awards will be March 2.
