Grumpy Cat lands a movie deal
The Internet's grumpiest feline will soon become a movie star.
The Los Angeles Times reports viral sensation Grumpy Cat, a mixed breed from Arizona whose real name is Tardar Sauce, with a "D," will have a speaking role in a live-action film based on its life. Broken Road Productions (who backed Kevin James' 2009 comedy, "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," and Adam Sandler's most recent flop, "Jack and Jill") has the rights to the upcoming movie, according to the Times.
Grumpy Cat's permanent look of disdain first began to catch fire online when a family member posted its photo to Reddit with silly captions about how the kitty is unimpressed and disappointed. Since then, its likeness has been turned into countless memes. In March, Grumpy Cat appeared on "Good Morning America," and at the South by Southwest music and film festival in Austin.
