'Iron Man 3' trailer released online

"Iron Man 3" appears to be going for a tone of darkness and danger, at least judging by the new trailer released online today.
Robert Downey Jr.'s trademark wisecracking is replaced by brooding lines such as "Nothing's been the same since New York" (a reference to the mayhem of "The Avengers") and "I can't sleep, and when I do I have nightmares." There's a minimum of gadgetry and a maximum of peril, with Iron Man's suits destroyed, his compound going up in flames and his beloved Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) apparently in the clutches of a villain.
Ben Kingsley returns as The Mandarin, and Guy Pearce appears more than once, even though the actor once called his role (as geneticist Aldrich Killian) merely a "cameo."
"Iron Man 3" is due in theaters May 3.
