The trailer for "Metallica Through the Never" is giving us a clearer idea of what this movie is going to be, and the answer seems to be: a very long rock video.

You'll see Dane DeHaan, the future "Spider-Man" star, as a Metallica roadie driving a van, and you'll also see him living through apocalyptic warfare while the band he works for indulges in arena-rock pyrotechnics. I predict much cross-cutting between storyline and concert, ending with some of tie-it-together imagery. The movie could still be interesting, but this trailer is making "Through the Never" look like a fans-only offering.
