Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet’s New York Fashion Week shows are known for two things ... eye-catching looks and hot, young celebs. Bendet delivered once again at her presentation at Manhattan’s Highline Stages on Monday, this time with a punch of prep.

“In each look there’s this juxtaposition of casual sportswear — whether it’s a crop top or a more traditional trouser — with something really dressed up and pretty,” Bendet told Newsday.

Examples included ballgown skirts with collared shirts, and embroidered blazers and beaded jackets over classic sweaters. There was plenty of lace — adorning both elegant gowns and polished short suits. Of course the shoes and accessories were fun too, from beaded clutches to pointy-toed heels decorated with hearts and striped espadrilles with major platforms.

But Bendet says “pleated miniskirts and crop tops” are the two ultimate must-haves for spring 2014.

Sisters Paris and Nicky Hilton, both currently the same shade of blonde, came out to see the collection, Paris in a black-and-white houndstooth dress and Nicky in a black, long-sleeved top and red plaid miniskirt (both Alice + Olivia, of course). “We have similar tastes,” Paris said of the famous siblings’ fashion choices. “Sometimes we’ll show up to an event in almost the same outfit.”

“When we were little our mom used to always dress us up as twins,” she added. “We loved it.”

But what’s a Manhattan event without a “Gossip Girl” reunion? Kelly Rutherford ran onto the red carpet to hug former co-star Taylor Momsen, who wore a tight black Alice + Olivia dress with leather detail and strappy stilettos.

What’s in her closet? “Lot of black, lots of leather,” she said, calling a leather jacket her “second skin.” Of her lax style mantra, she added, “I get dressed how I feel that day ... and in whatever’s clean.”

Momsen kicks off a two-month tour with her band, The Pretty Reckless, in Canada Sept. 20, and Bendet couldn’t contain her excitement over dressing her. “I just think she’s so amazing; she’s this Renaissance woman,” Bendet said. “She’s not only an incredible singer and actress, but she’s got sick style.”
